Bill Gross's Idealab is a "company factory" that began in 1996 in Pasadena. He's a lifelong entrepreneur who has launched more than 100 companies in the last 42 years. More than 40 of them have gone public or been acquired. Among them: the first online business directory company, CitySearch; the first paid search engine, Goto.com/Overture; the first online car retailer, CarsDirect.

His latest is WorldHaus, which uses innovative technology to create low-cost housing that can dramatically improve the lives of millions of people.   Imagine: A one-room, 220 square foot home that can be built in about 10 days at a starting cost of below $2,000. Bill is a graduate of the California Institute of Technology, where he currently serves on the Board of Trustees. He also serves on the Boards of more than 20 technology companies in California, and on the board of the Art Center College of Design.

Dr. Lorne M. Buchman began his tenure as the President of Art Center College of Design in October 2009.  Prior to that, he served as President of Saybrook Graduate School and Research Center in San Francisco, and Provost, then President of California College of Arts and Crafts, now known as the California College of the Arts (CCA).  Art Center is home to Designmatters, an innovative program that fuses design and social change.

A trained theatre director and scholar, he has held a number of faculty and administrative positions at the University of California, Berkeley. He is the author of a book on filmic adaptations of Shakespeare’s plays.

Dr. Buchman was Principal and Founder of Buchman Associates, a private consulting firm he established that was focused on identifying philanthropic and private investment sources to develop facilities for non-profit organizations.
